Home remedies to cure tired eyes
Tiredness creeps up on you from time to time and the eyes are one of the areas that give your secret away first. It’s hard to mask the appearance of tired eyes without resorting to sunglasses but there are a few home remedies you might like to try. Here’s our advice about tired eyes at the Opera Clinic, try these tips, they’re totally free and you can have them with our blessing!
Bags for bags – Like a cup of tea in the morning? Brew a pot of tea and save the used teabags for later. Pop the bags into your fridge and when you get a moment take them back out, lie down on the settee and pop the bags onto your eyes. Herbal teas are best, they’re known for their anti-oxidants, leave them on your eyes for about 10 minutes and you’ll look totally refreshed.
Try a slice of cucumber – Cut two slices of cucumber and pop them onto tired and puffy eyes. It’s wonderfully soothing and thanks to the water content of the fruit (yes it’s a fruit not a vegetable!) it’ll feel like pure heaven for your eyes.
Or strawberry – You might have heard about using slices of cucumber on eyes but what about pieces of strawberry? Surely that’s crazy right? Actually it’s not. Fresh strawberry contains alpha hydroxyl and you’ll find that in a wide range of facial creams. Use the real thing instead and it’ll relieve symptoms of tiredness and take away dark circles and swelling.
Drink plenty of water – Do you drink eight glasses of water per day? That’s the recommended guideline. Water is great for your skin in general, it rehydrates your body and helps your eyes to remain clear and bright. Up your intake of water on a daily basis and see the difference it makes to your eyes.
Get an early night – How many early nights do you get in the week? If you’re our partying all the time is it any wonder your eyes look like they do? Try to hit the hay earlier in the week and save the partying until the weekend, the more sleep your body gets the more revitalised it feels and the less your eyes look tired.
